New Bedford Thread Co. was established in 1953 by George Unhoch Sr., and moved to it's current location in Fairhaven, Massachusetts in 1956. New Bedford Thread Co. has been under the Unhoch family ownership and management continuously since that time.
The primary product of New Bedford Thread, from it's inception, was, and continues to be, glace finish cotton sewing thread. New Bedford Thread Co. has become the largest producer of glace finish cotton sewing threads in North America, and quite possibly the largest glace finish cotton producer, under one roof, anywhere in the world.
Currently, we export our glazed finish cotton yarns and sewing threads to nearly every country in Europe, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Asia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia and China.
