There is always a way to do it better? find it. ? Thomas Edison.
Plastic Components, Inc. was founded in 1989 in a 10,000 square ft facility with 3 molding presses and a vague concept of a plan to build a fully-automated manufacturing facility.
Now, in the fall of 2013, we have grown to 3 facilities, totaling over 75,000 square ft, shipping over 70,000,000 parts/ month to customers all over the world.
Our organization is a living testimonial to the fact that the American manufacturing base is NOT dead, that American manufacturing companies can compete with anyone in the world. We believe it?and we prove it every day. We use our talent, our passion, our strategy and technology to create one of the finest molding facilities of its' kind in the world.
We have more than doubled in size in since 2009 with an historic growth rate of 22.4% over the last 5 fiscal years.
The PCI Team: The Foundation.
Our organization is full of passionate, dedicated employees who continually seek-out ways to do it better? from quoting and order entry to shipping parts to our customers, and everything in between. We believe we have built one of the finest teams and operating systems in the plastics industry.
Supplier Relationships: The Support Structure.
We place a tremendous value on our relationships with our supplier partners (resin suppliers, toolmakers, equipment manufacturers, technology partners) to support our effort with their best-in-class capability. We can never thank them enough for their on-going support. We are a much better company because of them. We view our relationships with our partners as friendships, and a true source of our competitive advantage.
Facilities
Morse Drive: Where it all Started: The Mother Ship.
Our Morse Drive facility has expanded from the original 10,000 square ft to its' current 42,000 square ft., and from the original 3 presses to 42 fully developed manufacturing cells. To support our continued growth, we are developing plans and space to add 6 more cells, for a total of 48. Press sizes range from 35 Tons to 400 Tons. Morse Drive is home to our entire administrative/ business development and engineering team.
Bunsen Drive: The Next Generation: Lights Out
Our Bunsen Drive facility, completed and launched on November 11, 2011, represents the next-generation of injection molding capability. The facility has been running 24/ 7/ 365 since our grand opening, molding and shipping over 400,000,000 defect free parts. The facility runs on a light-out basis. We believe it to be the finest facility of its' kind? anywhere!
Engineering Resource Center: The Future. Design, Develop, Launch.
We surveyed our customers in early 2012 to ask them for insights into how we could provide them additional value. The majority of our customers responded with the same answer: New product development and rapid prototyping capability. With that in mind, we launched the Engineering Resource Center (ERC) is late 2012. The results have been overwhelming, leading to the addition of a 3rd facility that, as of October 1, 2013, is the home of the Engineering Resource Center.
What's Next?
Growth, growth and more growth! As we continue to conquer new horizons in the world of American manufacturing, our efforts continue to be recognized and rewarded by customers, new and old, who see their relationship with Plastic Components, Inc. as an important part of their strategic future. We eagerly accept the challenges that await us, and look forward to being a part of the renaissance of American manufacturing.
